Barys Almost Pulled Off a Comeback in Kazan

Barys continued their October road trip in Kazan. The coaching staff made just one change in goal — Adam Scheel started the game.

Ak Bars opened the scoring early when Vladimir Alistrov redirected a pass into the net. The second period saw Barys take control of the puck, but their long possessions didn’t result in a goal. Kazan, on the other hand, capitalized on two counterattacks, with Artyom Galimov scoring twice. Nikita Lyamkin’s goal early in the third period seemed to seal the win.

But that’s when the team from Astana really woke up and nearly pulled off a comeback. Goals from Dinmukhamed Kaiyrzhan, Michael Vecchione, and Vsevolod Logvin shifted the momentum completely in Barys’ favor. Late in the game, during a 6-on-4 power play, the puck miraculously stayed out of Timur Bilyalov’s net — once even hitting the post. Still, the hosts managed to hold on.

On October 9, Mikhail Kravets’s team will face Traktor in Chelyabinsk.
