In the final match of September Barys faced Torpedo. The coaching staff of the Astana team did not make major changes to the lineup, only switching Kirill Panyukov and Chase DeLeo in the forward lines, and Nikita Kamalov and Samat Daniyar in defense.
The score was opened in the middle of the first period – Dmitry Kagarlitsky scored on a power play. Shortly after, Nikita Artamonov extended Torpedo’s lead with a great pass from behind the net. Barys responded through the first line, with Kirill Panyukov and Michael McLeod setting up Anton Burdasov, who netted his first goal for his new team.
The second period was the turning point of the game. Goals by Mikhail Orlov, Mikhail Abramov, and Bobby Lynch forced the Barys coaching staff to replace goaltender Nikita Boyarkin with Johan Mattsson. However, even Mattsson couldn’t keep a clean sheet for long, as Nikita Shavin and Denis Pochivalov increased the lead. In the final third, Sergei Goncharuk, Vladislav Firstov, and Evgeny Svechnikov added three more goals.
On October 3, Vyacheslav Butsaev’s team will play against Spartak in Moscow.
