Barys opened their winter schedule in Novosibirsk. Adil Beketayev and Kirill Panyukov were left out of the lineup for the game against Sibir, while Tamirlan Gaitamirov and Michael Vecchione returned. Making his first start of the season was Nikita Boyarkin, appearing in his first game back after a serious injury.
The opening period belonged entirely to the hosts, who built a solid lead by the first intermission. Anton Kosolapov, Arkhip Nekolenko, and Mikhail Abramov all added to their point totals. Barys got back into the game thanks to Max Willman, who scored with 20 seconds left in the second period, extending his point streak to four games. But Astana couldn’t manage a full comeback. Ivan Chekhovich sealed the result with an empty-netter late in the third.
On December 5, Mikhail Kravets’ team will face Spartak in Astana.
