Barys continued its home stretch with another matchup against Sibir. In the lineup, injured forwards Maxim Mukhametov and Emil Galimov were replaced by Roman Starchenko and Vyacheslav Kolesnikov. On defense, Adil Beketayev took the place of Dmitry Breus, while Andrey Shutov started in goal.
The Astana side opened the game strongly, scoring twice in the opening frame. Samat Daniyar netted his first goal of the season late in a power play, and soon after, Tice Thompson doubled the lead, finishing off a rebound in front of the net.
The visitors from Novosibirsk cut the deficit midway through the game after a somewhat deflected effort from Vladimir Tkachev found its way past Shutov. Soon after, Barys conceded two more quick goals — Vladislav Kara scored on the power play, and Scott Wilson put Sibir ahead.
Early in the third period, a long offensive shift from Barys resulted in a goal by Riley Walsh, tying the game 3–3. That marker turned out to be the last of regulation, sending the contest into another shootout. Once again, Sibir proved more accurate in the tiebreaker.
On October 16, Mikhail Kravets’ team will host Avangard at Barys Arena.
