Barys continues their road trip with an experimental lineup as they face off against Amur.
In their previous game, Amur suffered a high-scoring 4-5 defeat against Avtomobilist in Yekaterinburg. Alex Broadhurst, Ivan Mishchenko, and Ilya Talaluev (who scored twice) added to their goal tallies for the Tigers. Goaltender Matt Jurusik made 22 saves. Acting head coach Viktor Kostyuchenok pointed to a loss of focus at the end of the first and second periods as a key factor in the loss.
Amur currently holds 29 points after 50 games. Their top scorer is Alexander Galchenyuk with 19 goals and 16 assists. Forward Kirill Slepets remains on the injured list.
Barys, missing 11 key players, fell to Avangard 1-5 in Omsk on Friday. Batyrlan Muratov scored the team’s lone goal on the day he celebrated his 26th birthday. Stanislav Bocharov recorded his first assist for the Astana team. Defensemen Roman Bolshedvorsky and Kirill Lyapunov made their KHL debuts, while forward Sayan Daniyar returned to the main roster after a five-year absence. Head coach Galym Mambetaliyev praised the determination of his young players, emphasizing the importance of growth with each game.
Barys has earned 28 points in 51 games so far this season. Defenseman Beibarys Orazov is expected to return to the lineup after participating in the Challenge Cup in Novosibirsk.
Puck drop for Amur vs. Barys is scheduled for 12:30 PM Astana time.
The game will be broadcast live on KHL TV.
