Barys continues its five-game home series with a matchup against Lada.
This week, Lada Togliatti suffered two identical 1-4 defeats against Sibir in Novosibirsk. Arkhip Nekolenko and Ivan Romanov were the goal scorers for Lada. Goaltender Alexander Trushkov made 52 saves over two games, but it wasn't enough to earn any points for his team. Head coach Pavel Zubov noted that while his players won many battles, they failed to convert their clear scoring chances.
After 53 games, the Togliatti team has 42 points. Their top scorer, Dmitry Kugryshev, has 26 points (10+16). Injuries have sidelined forwards Evgeny Groshev, Pavel Koltygin, Mikhail Fisenko, Vladislav Chervonenko, and Egor Chernikov.
On Thursday, Barys, featuring nine quota players, lost 2-5 at home to SKA. Batyrlan Muratov and Nikita Setdikov scored for Barys, with Setdikov reaching 100 career KHL points. Goaltender Nikita Boyarkin recorded 41 saves. Defensemen Mstislav Shipilin, Marat Sagymbayev, and Sanzhar Ibrahim made their KHL debuts. Head coach Galym Mambetaliev was pleased with his newcomers, highlighting their strong desire and effort.
Barys continues the regular season with 29 points after 54 games. A decision regarding the participation of Viktor Antipin and Anton Burdasov in today's game will be made later in the day.
