Before the Barys vs. Metallurg Game

Barys will wrap up their long home stretch with a matchup against the league leaders, Metallurg. The Magnitogorsk side had a successful trip to the Far East, extending their winning streak to three games. On Friday, Metallurg earned a solid 3–1 win over Amur in Khabarovsk, with goals from Dmitry Silantyev, Roman Kantserov, and Ruslan Iskhakov. Goaltender Alexander Smolin turned away 28 shots. Head coach Andrei Razin credited the victory to a strong start and the team’s ability to stick to the game plan at key moments.

Through 24 games, Metallurg has collected 38 points and remains the highest-scoring team of the season with 92 goals. Vladimir Tkachyov (4+24) currently leads the league in points, while Roman Kantserov (15 goals) tops the goal-scoring chart. Forward Andrei Kozlov remains sidelined with an injury.

In their previous outing, Barys snapped their losing streak with a 3–2 overtime win over Avtomobilist. Dinmukhamed Kaiyrzhan scored for the third straight game, while Mason Morelli and Tyce Thompson also found the net. Newcomer Max Willman notched two assists. Michael Vecchione has caught up with Riley Walsh in the team’s scoring race (both with 7+12). Goalie Andrei Shutov made 22 saves. Head coach Mikhail Kravets praised his team’s structure and execution throughout the game. After 25 games, the Kazakh club has earned 21 points.
