In their first home game of December, Barys will face Spartak. This matchup marks the midpoint of the regular season for both teams.
In the previous round, the Moscow side claimed a spectacular victory over Sibir in Novosibirsk (7–6 OT). During the game, the visitors were down by four goals but managed to turn the tide, scoring twice into an empty net in the final minute of regulation. Spartak’s goals came from Daniil Orlov, Daniil Sobolev, Mikhail Maltsev, who recorded a brace, Danil Pivchulin, Adam Ruzicka, and Nikita Korostelev. Alexei Zhamnov noted that his team made many individual mistakes but was able to claw its way back into the game, though at the cost of significant emotional energy.
Spartak has collected 39 points in 33 games. Their top scorer, Adam Ruzicka, has 26 points (12+14). Joseph Keane (4+21) ranks among the top four highest-scoring defensemen of the season. Defenseman Dmitry Vishnevsky is currently on the injured list.
Barys also played their last game in Novosibirsk, where they fell 1–4. Max Willman, who scored the team’s only goal, extended his point streak to four games. It was Nikita Boyarkin’s first appearance of the season as he continues to regain form after a severe injury. He made 17 saves. Mikhail Kravets expressed dissatisfaction with his players’ performance, noting they failed to help the goalkeeper and blocked only nine shots.
The Kazakhstan team has earned 27 points in 33 games. Yesterday, the club signed a tryout contract with goaltender Vladimir Nikitin.
The Barys – Spartak game starts at 19:30 Astana time.
