Before the game: Lada vs. Barys

Barys will open a three-game road trip in Tolyatti.

On Sunday, Lada recorded a shutout win at home against Sochi (4–0). Goals were scored by the team’s leading scorer Riley Sawchuk (17+15), Yegor Morozov, Ivan Savchik, and Andrei Obidin. Alexander Trushkov turned aside all 17 shots he faced. Head coach Pavel Desyatkov noted that his team delivered a complete performance, and whenever mistakes occurred, the goaltender cleaned things up. After 47 regular-season games, the Tolyatti side has collected 32 points.

Barys, meanwhile, defeated CSKA at home in their previous outing (3–1), snapping a losing streak. Michael Vecchione scored twice and became the first Barys player this season to reach the 30-point mark (12+18). Another goal was added by Tyce Thompson. Riley Walsh recorded his 20th assist of the championship. Adam Shil made 25 saves and also picked up an assist. Mikhail Kravets said he was pleased that his team did not give up after a tough stretch, kept fighting, and managed to beat a very strong opponent.

The Kazakhstan-based club continues its push for a playoff spot with 39 points after 48 games. On this road trip, Barys will be without Kirill Savitsky, who is recovering from an injury.
