Barys lost their previous game at home to Metallurg (1–4). Alikhan Asetov scored his first goal of the season. Andrey Shutov and Adam Scheel combined for 34 saves. Head coach Mikhail Kravets noted that his team performed well on the penalty kill and highlighted the third period, where the momentum of the game could have shifted.
In 26 games, the Kazakh team has collected 21 points. Riley Walsh and Michael Vecchione remain the team’s leading scorers (both with 7+12). Forwards Maxim Mukhametov and Emil Galimov have returned from the injury list.
