Barys will wrap up their first October road trip in Chelyabinsk.
Heading into their first home matchup against Barys, Traktor is on a four-game losing streak. On Monday, the Chelyabinsk team fell to Dinamo Minsk (1:4). Pierrick Dubé scored Traktor’s only goal, while Chris Driedger made 24 saves. Head coach Benoît Groulx noted that his team needs to improve in the details, particularly in forechecking and zone exits.
After 13 games, Traktor has collected 14 points. Joshua Leivo (4+11) is currently the league’s second-leading scorer and playmaker, while Grigory Dronov (5+5) ranks among the most productive defensemen this season.
Barys came up just short in Kazan in their previous outing, nearly erasing a 0–4 deficit against Ak Bars. Dinmukhamed Kaiyrzhan scored his first goal of the season, while Astana’s top scorer Michael Vecchione (5+6) and Vsevolod Logvin added one each. Ian McCoshen picked up his first assist in a Barys uniform, and Adam Scheel made 24 saves. Adil Beketayev reached his 200th career KHL game. Head coach Mikhail Kravets said the team played a solid game, but it wasn’t enough to beat such a strong opponent. After 13 games, Barys sits at 12 points.
Earlier this season, Barys and Traktor already faced off in Astana — it was the season opener for the home team, who came out on top in overtime (4:3).
The Traktor – Barys game starts at 7:00 p.m. Astana time.
