Today, Nomad will play its first away match in the quarterfinals of the playoffs, facing Arlan in Kokshetau. This season, the teams have already played four head-to-head games, with Georgy Vereshchagin's team managing to secure victory in just one of them. That win came on home ice when Nomad's captain, Sayan Daniyar, scored the only goal, ending the team's nine-game losing streak. That match also saw the debut of young goaltender Artyom Shestakov, who earned a shutout, stopping 35 shots. In the other three encounters, Vladimir Markelov’s squad confidently took the wins (3:1, 4:1, 4:3).
Arlan finished the regular season in first place, collecting 65 points in 40 games. The team's top scorer was Danil Paramonov, who recorded 45 points (30+15) in 39 games.
Nomad, on the other hand, barely made the playoff zone, finishing in eighth place in the Kazakhstan Championship standings with 37 points in 40 games. Their most productive player was Dias Guseinov, who tallied 27 points (9+18) in 31 matches.
