Barys Claims a Comeback Victory in Minsk

0P4A6289.jpgBarys continued their road series with a match against Dinamo Minsk. The coaching staff made several changes, bringing in Dinmukhamed Kaiyrzhan, Ansar Shaikhmeddenov, and Ruslan Ospanov to form a new forward line.

The Astana team played solidly through most of the first period, but just before the break, Dinamo took advantage of a rare defensive error, with Christopher Tierney opening the scoring in what seemed like a low-risk situation. Barys responded late in the second period when their second line executed a sharp counterattack, resulting in Alihan Omirbekov’s goal. Damir Zhafyarov assisted on the play, marking his 200th career KHL assist and his first point with Barys.

In the final period, Dinamo controlled the play, but Barys remained disciplined defensively, blocking numerous shots. Goalie Nikita Boyarkin was crucial in this stretch, making a total of 34 saves. The game-winner came with just 30 seconds left on the clock—Omirbekov won a face-off in the offensive zone, allowing team captain Kirill Panyukov to secure the hard-earned two points for Barys.

On October 23, Galym Mambetaliev’s team will face Sibir in Novosibirsk.
