In the second game of their opening home series, Barys hosted Amur. The Astana side made only one lineup change—Artyom Korolyov replaced the injured Ian McCoshen on the second defensive pair.
The opening period was tight and low on chances. The deadlock was broken just seven seconds before the intermission, when Oleg Li capitalized on a turnover at the blue line and beat Andrey Shutov. Early in the second frame, Sergei Dubakin doubled Amur’s lead, left alone in front to calmly finish.
Barys fought back through Riley Walsh, who ended Maxim Dorozhko’s shutout streak with a precise wrist shot. Soon after, Kirill Savitsky extended his scoring run by capping off a counterattack. By the second intermission, the home side had even taken the lead, as Emil Galimov scored his first KHL goal for Barys.
In the third period, Kirill Petkov tied it for Amur, silencing the Barys Arena crowd. No further goals came in regulation or overtime, sending the game to a shootout. Kirill Savitsky struck again, clinching Barys’ second win of the season and snapping an 11-game head-to-head losing streak against Amur.
Up next, Mikhail Kravets’ team will face Dinamo Minsk at home on September 13.
