Barys Fall to Neftekhimik for the Fourth Time This Season

Barys wrapped up their road trip with a game in Nizhnekamsk against Neftekhimik.

The visitors made a strong start, but Neftekhimik soon earned two consecutive power plays. One of them resulted in the opening goal, as Luka Profaka scored from close range, leaving Adam Scheel with no chance. The second period featured several fights, but neither side was able to add to the score.

The final frame proved eventful. Early in the period, the hosts were awarded a penalty shot while shorthanded, and Andrei Belozyorov converted his opportunity. Midway through the period, Semyon Simonov ended Barys' scoreless streak. Later, the visitors pulled their goaltender for an extra attacker but conceded into the empty net, with Bulat Shafigullin finding the target. Barys refused to give up, and with 24 seconds remaining, Max Willman cut the deficit to one while playing 6-on-4. The Kazakh side appeared to equalize in the closing seconds, but the goal was waved off after officials ruled that Michael Vecchione had directed the puck into the net with his skate.

On January 28, Mikhail Kravets' team will host Admiral.
