Barys played the second game of its road trip in Kazan. Compared to the previous game, the coaching staff made two lineup changes. Maksim Mukhametov replaced Kirill Savitskiy on the top line, while Kirill Lyapunov took the place of Batyrlan Muratov in the third line.
The visitors opened the scoring midway through the first period when Adil Beketayev converted a rebound after Kirill Panikov's shot. Early in the second period, Ak Bars tied the game through Dmitry Yashkin, who capitalized on a power play. However, just over two minutes later, the Kazakhstani team regained the lead thanks to Ansar Shaikhmeddenov, who scored after winning a battle in front of the net. Unfortunately for Barys, the hosts struck twice before the second intermission, with Kirill Semyonov and Artem Galimov finding the net.
The final period produced no goals.
On January 10, the Kazakhstani club will face Salavat Yulaev in Ufa.
