Barys suffer another heavy defeat against SKA

Barys played the second game of their six-match March road trip in Saint Petersburg against SKA.

The Astana side made three changes to the lineup. Maksim Mukhametov replaced Kirill Lyapunov in the fourth line, while Kirill Nikitin took Dmitry Breus’ spot as the seventh defenseman. The coaching staff entrusted the starting goaltender role to Andrei Shutov, who had finished the previous game in Moscow two days earlier.

Despite a decent start, the visitors once again struggled to convert their scoring chances. Meanwhile, the Saint Petersburg club made the most of their opportunities and scored five times before the second intermission. Mikhail Vorobyov, Sergey Plotnikov, who finished with a hat-trick, Yegor Savikov, and Matvei Polyakov all found the net. After the third goal, Adam Scheel replaced Shutov in goal for Barys.

In the final period, Plotnikov completed his hat-trick, while Matvei Korotky added another goal.

On March 7, Mikhail Kravets’ team will face the Dragons in Shanghai.
