Barys Suffer Another Heavy Loss to SKA

Barys played the second of their six scheduled March road games in Saint Petersburg against SKA. The Astana lineup featured three changes. Maksim Mukhametov replaced Kirill Lyapunov on the fourth line. Kirill Nikitin stepped in for Dmitry Breus as the seventh defenseman. In goal, the coaching staff gave the start to Andrei Shutov, who had finished the previous game in Moscow.

After a solid opening stretch, Barys once again struggled to capitalize on their scoring chances. SKA, meanwhile, were clinical and made the most of their opportunities, scoring five times before the second intermission. Mikhail Vorobyov, Sergei Plotnikov (who netted two), Yegor Savikov, and Matvei Polyakov all found the back of the net. Following the third goal, Adam Scheel replaced Shutov in the Barys crease.

In the final period, Plotnikov completed his hat trick, and Matvei Korotky added another to seal the result.

On March 7, Mikhail Kravets’ squad will face the Dragons in Shanghai.
