Barys wrapped up their preseason schedule with another matchup against Sibir.
The coaching staff slightly reshuffled the bottom lines, giving ice time to Ruslan Ospanov, Kirill Lyapunov, and Maksim Mukhametov. Artem Shestakov started in goal.
The scoring opened only in the second period, this time by the visitors. Andrey Yakovlev converted on the rush. Just two minutes later, Barys struck back on the power play. Michael Vecchione set up Mason Morelli, who netted his first goal in a Barys jersey. Before the period ended, Morelli struck again, cashing in from the crease after a Riley Walsh shot.
In the third period, Emil Galimov scored his first goal for Barys, finding himself all alone in front of the net. Ivan Klimovich cut the deficit with three minutes left, but the home team locked things down defensively to secure their second straight win.
The regular season begins for Barys on September 7, when they will host last year’s finalist, Traktor Chelyabinsk.
