Barys wrapped up the opening month of the regular season with a home matchup against Admiral. The coaching staff made some adjustments to the third and fourth forward lines and gave Adam Scheel the start in net.
The first goal came in the 27th minute when Mason Morelli made a brilliant rush down the right side and beat Adam Húska. Remarkably, it was goaltender Adam Scheel who started the scoring play with an assist — his first KHL point. Later, Riley Walsh put on a dazzling display of his own, setting up Vsevolod Logvin to double the lead.
With the advantage secured, the Astana side focused on game management in the final period. Three minutes before the buzzer, Ansar Shaikhmeddenov sealed the win with a third goal. Scheel stopped all 26 shots he faced, recording his first KHL shutout.
On October 1, Mikhail Kravets’ team will host Lokomotiv on home ice.
