Barys concluded their first Far East road trip of the season in Vladivostok. The Astana club made several changes to its lineup, with Michael Vecchione returning to action and Beibarys Orazov appearing in a KHL game for the first time since December 7.
The visitors looked slightly more active in the opening period, earned a power-play opportunity, and generally controlled possession. At one point, Michael Vecchione struck the post. In the second frame, Barys converted their advantage into goals. First, Kirill Savitskiy finished off a well-executed breakaway opportunity. Shortly afterward, Dinmukhamed Kaiyrzhan doubled the lead with a powerful shot immediately after entering the offensive zone.
Early in the third period, Emil Galimov capped off a well-worked attack by his line to extend the lead. Later, Michael Vecchione added another goal to further frustrate the home crowd. Libor Sulak eventually spoiled Adam Scheel’sshutout bid with a precise shot. Scheel finished the game with 28 saves, but the goal had no impact on the final outcome.
With the victory, Barys snapped its losing streak and will now return home. On February 12, Mikhail Kravets’ team will host SKA St. Petersburg in Astana.
