Team Kazakhstan faced France in its final game of the IIHF World Championship Division IA tournament.
The key moments came in the decisive third period, as the teams traded goals from Flavien Dair and Dmitry Breus. The winner was eventually determined in a shootout, where Roman Starchenko scored the deciding goal to secure two points for Kazakhstan.
Talgat Zhailauov’s squad finished the tournament with 13 points and officially secured promotion back to the top division with one round still remaining. Tournament organizers named Batyrlan Muratov the best player of Team Kazakhstan.
