Season Summary for Barys by Sport Qory

We summarize the performance of Barys players in the 2024/2025 KHL regular season. This section has been prepared with the participation of the club’s partner – the Tourism and Sports Industry Support Fund.

This season, a record-breaking 16 young Kazakh players made their debuts in the Kontinental Hockey League for Barys. Some secured spots in the main roster and even scored their first KHL goals. Among those who opened their scoring accounts were Kirill Lyapunov, Semyon Simonov, Mstislav Shipilin, Aslan Zhusupbekov, and Beibarys Orazov.

The team’s top scorer and playmaker was defenseman Adil Beketayev, who recorded 5 goals and 14 assists. He averaged 19 minutes and 47 seconds of ice time per game, blocked 81 opponent shots, made 1,452 successful passes, and completed 39 interceptions – all team-leading figures.

The top goal-scorer of Barys was Anton Burdasov with 12 goals, 10 of which came in even-strength play, and only 2 on the power play.

Nikita Setdikov led the team in power-play goals (4) and ranked among the top three team scorers (9+9). He also registered the highest skating speed (37.3 km/h) and the hardest shot (166.7 km/h) on the team.

Nikita Boyarkin was one of the season’s biggest revelations, consistently ranking among the league’s top goaltenders in key metrics. He finished the season with a 2.45 goals-against average and a 92.4% save percentage. Boyarkin played over 2,200 minutes and recorded three shutouts. According to advanced stats, he led the league in expected goals (xG) at 14.45.

Alikhan Omirbekov also had a breakthrough season, playing in 58 games and ranking fourth in team scoring (16 points, 7+9). Wearing No. 17, he did a lot of the team’s dirty work, blocking 70 shots (ranking in the top three among KHL forwards), leading Barys in puck recoveries (450), and creating the most net-front traffic (45).

Tamirlan Gaytamirov led the team in hits (73) and recoveries among defensemen (341).

Ivan Nikolishin had the best faceoff win percentage on the team (52.8%) and recorded the most takeaways (27).

Roman Starchenko played his 862nd KHL game, 810 of which were in a Barys jersey – a league record. He has scored 208 goals for the club, just nine short of Nigel Dawes’ record. Additionally, Starchenko is the second-highest scorer in Barys history with 408 points (208+200).
