Barys lost to Jokerit in shootouts in the final match of the away series.
The meeting in Helsinki was missed by striker Kirill Savitsky, who was injured in
the game with Dynamo, as well as defender Samat Daniyar. Dmitry Gurkov and
Yegor Petukhov got into the match instead of them.
Barys was off and running already in the opening of the game. Nikita Mikhailis
successfully put the stick under the throw of Joe Morrow, after which the puck
crawled into the goal. The hosts were helped by the power play opportunity, which
was capitalized by Niklas Jensen at the beginning of the second frame. A little
later, he scored a double with a whipping shot from the middle of the zone. But the
teams still went to the break with a tie score. Matthew Frattin was the first in the
putback when the guests played in the powerplay.
The audience did not see the pucks delivered in the final third and overtime. The
Jokerit players were more accurate in the penalty shootout.
Barys returns to Nur-Sultan and opens a home series of matches. On September 21,
Mikhailis' team will play with CSKA
