KHL. Metallurg - Barys 7:4 (series score 1-0)

Barys lost to Metallurg in the first match of the quarterfinal series of the Eastern Conference of the KHL.

The hosts opened the scoring already in the first minute. Yegor Korobkin took advantage of an unexpected carom from the end wall and scored the goal to Henrik Karlsson. The guests evened figures on the scoreboard quite quickly. Matthew Frettin fought well for the puck in the middle zone, after which Kirill Panyukov forced Vasily Koshechkin to capitulate with a hard-hitting wrist shot. Before the break, Barys scored twice more. Roman Starchenko and Darren Dietz had capitalized on man-advantage.

The second period turned the game upside down. The hosts organized four goals in 20 minutes of playing time, to which Barys responded with only one goal from Varone when going one-on-one.

In the final third, Yegor Yakovlev and Nikolai Prokhorkin brought the matter to a confident victory for Metallurg. The second match of the series will take place in Magnitogorsk on March 4. The match starts at 8:00 p.m. Nur-Sultan time.
