On September 24, Barys will open the second road series of the season. In Cherepovets our team will play against Severstal.

Razin's team got off to a flying start and had several victories over serious opponents. However, the last three games didn't go well for Severstal and they left the playoff zone in the West. On Friday, the Cherepovets opened the home series with a 1-3 loss to Dynamo, Moscow. The only goal was scored by Adam Liska. Goalkeeper Vladislav Podjapolski had 24 deflected shots. After the match, the Severstal trainer noted that the opponent was stronger in terms of functionality, but at the end of the third period the game could change.

Barys had a decent first home series of the season, winning four out of five games. Last round, Kazakhs shut down the most productive team in the KHL, Avtomobilist - 2-0. The main hero of the game was astana newcomer goalkeeper Julius Gudacek, who saved all 36 shots on goal. Anthony Louis and Arkady Shestakov (first goal of the season) added sniper points. Jesse Graham took part in both productive attacks and has scored in four consecutive games. The home team's head trainer Andrey Skabelka again emphasized his team's defensive play and noted that Gudacek's last-ditch effort added to the confidence of the field hockey players.

Today, the team from Kazakhstan's capital city has nine points, placing it among the top eight teams in the Eastern Conference. Linden Vey broke his four-game winning streak, but remains Barys' leading scorer (8 points, 5+3). Alikhan Asetov will miss the away series for health reasons. 

Severstal and Barys met twice last season. In October, the visitors won in the Kazakhstan capital, 5-1. In November, Barys took revenge in overtime, 4-3.
