Nikita Boyarkin, one of the heroes of the third round of the Continental Cup, gave an interview with the Barys press office and summarised the results of the completed tournament.
- Nikita, how's it feel? We went to the tournament with a rather truncated squad, but confidently won the group.
- Emotions are only positive. Good thing we won all three matches in regulation time. Everyone fought and battled. As for the truncated squad - we have a young team, everyone wanted to prove themselves at a new level. So the absence of some players didn't really affect the attitude and results. It's always nice to play at international level against champions of other countries. I think it's a good experience for any player, especially for our young team.
- In the first match against Cardiff they were leading confidently with the score 5:2, why was the end nervous?
- We played well, but when we scored the fifth goal, we probably became a little bit relaxed. Decided to throw more, forgot a little bit about the defence. And you can't do that with a team that has 15 Canadians on the roster. In the locker room we then talked to the team about the need to play not just until the last minute, but until the last second. We should bring such matches to a more confident victory rather than creating intrigue.
- The game with Grenoble was very intense for you and for the whole team. The opponent played pretty solid contact hockey.
- In this match, the boys realised their chances well. From then on, we played for the score. We understood that the team was playing at home, there were a lot of fans, the stands were driving them forward. Yes, they tried to get us emotional, went forward in a big way. But we were able to contain the onslaught and did not allow our opponents to get back into the game, as it happened in the match against Cardiff.
- Did you keep the tournament result in your mind before the game with Semigallia? "Nomad" was enough not to lose in regulation time.
- Of course, we knew that one point would be enough for us, but we tried not to think about it. It was easier to do what we know how to do and win. It seemed that we were physically better prepared than the opponent, although we did not have much time between matches. As if Semigallia was more tired in the past games.there was not much time between matches.then we can, and win. Basically, we beat them without any problems.
- Which match was the hardest for you?
- Probably the first game against Cardiff. We knew they played North American hockey, a lot of Canadians in the lineup. Knew they would throw from any position at any opportunity. Basically, we took apart each opponent like that, watched videos. So nothing surprised us in the game, we were prepared for almost every situation.
- What do you think of tournament centre and the overall atmosphere?
- The organisation of the tournament was not bad, everything suited us, we had no problems with anything. The town is small and quiet. In general, it was not my first time in France, but it was my first time in Grenoble. There was practically no free time, the tournament is quite tight, so we paid more attention to recovery.
- Ahead of the final round, Nomad will have their second attempt in history to take the prestigious trophy. Следили ли за выступлением потенциальных на тот момент соперников из другой группы?
- Personally, I didn't follow that group closely, just watched the results of the matches. I think we don't care who we play in the final. We need to focus, first and foremost, on our game and our physical condition. Now while we switch to the championship of Kazakhstan, ahead of almost two months.
