Nomad is the winner of the 2024 Continental Cup!

Nomad, which became the champion of Kazakhstan at the end of the 2022/23 season, received the right to compete for the second time in its history as part of the Continental Cup, held under the aegis of the International Ice Hockey Federation.

The Kazakhstan team began its campaign for the title with the third round, the matches of which were held in Grenoble, France, in November 2023. At that tournament, the Astana team showed one hundred percent result, winning all three meetings in regular time.

At the final tournament in Wales, Nomad was the youngest team, despite this, it was the "nomads" who were called the main favorite. Already in the first game with the hosts of the final round – the Cardiff Devils team, Astana team proved the seriousness of their intentions, winning with a score of 5:2.

The success in the match with the Danish Herning Blue Fox (7:2), as it turned out later, guaranteed Nomad victory in the final tournament. But even in the insignificant game with the Polish "Katowice", our team won a strong-willed victory, having spent a shock third period. Thus, Nomad became the winner of the Continental Cup for the first time in its history.

A huge contribution to this victory was made by graduates of the Barys Youth Sports School who went through the entire vertical of development in our club: Stanislav Alexandrov, Oleg Boyko, Maxim Musorov, Nikolai Shulga, Danil Butenko and others. Artur Gatiyatov was recognized as the best striker of the final tournament, who scored 5 (2+3) points and took first place in the list of the most productive players. Nikita Boyarkin earned the title of the best goalkeeper of the final round, who showed the best results in terms of reliability coefficient (2) and percentage of reflected shots (92.59).

It should be noted that Nomad became the most productive team in the finals (5 goals on average per game), with the best power play (40%) and played the best in the minority (85.71% of neutralization of most opponents).

The team will return home on January 16. Taking this opportunity, the Barys Hockey Club invites fans and media representatives to meeting of Nomad at the international airport (Terminal T1).
