Barys will continue their road trip in the capital of Tatarstan.
In their previous game, Ak Bars suffered a home loss to Avangard (1:2), ending a four-game winning streak and dropping to third place in the Eastern Conference standings, уступив second spot to the Omsk team. On Tuesday, Barys delivered a solid performance in Nizhny Novgorod, but despite creating plenty of scoring chances, the Astana side failed to earn a point in a 2:3 loss to Torpedo. The goals were scored by Kirill Savitsky and Ansar Shaikhmeddenov. Alikhan Omirbekov reached the 10-assist mark in a KHL season for the first time in his career. Nikita Boyarkin stopped 16 shots. Head coach Mikhail Kravets said his team controlled play in the second and third periods, but once again struggled with finishing.
The Kazakhstan club has 36 points after 43 games. Riley Walsh (9+18) rounds out the top eight scoring defensemen of the regular season.
