Barys will conclude their first home series of the new season with a clash against Dynamo Moscow.
Alexei Kudashov’s men have so far claimed just one victory in a shootout across four games. In their last outing, Dynamo fell in a spectacular battle against Avangard in Omsk (4:7). Cedric Paquette, Joran Wylde, Igor Ozhiganov, and Artyom Shvets-Rogovoy all scored their first goals of the season. Maxim Motorygin conceded six goals on 31 shots before KHL debutant Vladimir Selivanov stepped in. The head coach of the “Blue-and-Whites” lamented his team’s poor play in the second period, during which they allowed four goals.
At the start of the regular season, Dynamo Moscow has collected three points. Their current top scorer is defenseman Daniil Pylenkov (1+3). Forward Artyom Mikheev is listed as injured.
On Saturday, Barys suffered their first defeat of the season, falling 1:3 to Dinamo Minsk. Michael Vecchione scored his debut goal for the Astana side, while Andrey Shutov made 33 saves. Maxim Mukhametov and Beibarys Orazov played their 50th career KHL games, and Vyacheslav Kolesnikov made his league debut. Head coach Mikhail Kravets stated that his players need to grow, improve their skills, and raise their hockey IQ.
After three games, the Kazakh club has four points. Their most productive players so far are Kirill Savitskiy and Emil Galimov (2+1 each), along with Dinmukhamed Kaiyrkhan and Michael Vecchione (1+2 each). Tice Thompson, who was injured in the game against Dinamo Minsk, remains questionable for tonight’s match.
