Barys – Neftekhimik: Game Preview

The Wolves defeated Lada 7:3 at home in a high-scoring game in the previous round. Damir Zhafyarov scored twice, while Andrey Belozyorov, Ivan Nikishin, German Tochilkin, Maksim Fedotov and Matvey Nadvorny each added a goal. Filipp Dolganov made 30 saves. Igor Grishin said that after two very disappointing games, his players worked hard and did everything necessary to secure the victory.

Nizhnekamsk have collected 11 points in eight games, which puts them in the top three of the Eastern Conference. Belozyorov, already mentioned above, is the team's leading scorer (3+6).

Barys ended their first road trip of the season on a positive note, defeating Dynamo Moscow 4:1. Garrett Pilon scored twice, while Jake Massie and Justin Bailey added one goal each, with Bailey scoring into an empty net. Andrey Shutov stopped 37 shots on goal and was once again named the KHL Player of the Day. Mikhail Kravets praised his team for their character and 41 blocked shots.

After seven games, the Kazakhstan side have 10 points, currently the fourth-best total in the conference. Several Barys players rank among the league leaders. Justin Bailey (7+5) is one of the league's top scorers. Jake Massie (3+5), with a league-best +10 rating, is among the highest-scoring defensemen. Andrey Shutov leads the league in goals-against average (0.35) and save percentage (98.9%). Logan Day has already blocked 25 opposing attempts to change the score.

Barys will be without defenseman Madi Dikhanbek in the upcoming games after he suffered an injury during the game against Dynamo. He has been placed on the injured list.
