Barys continues preparations for the KHL regular season with home exhibition games against Sibir.
Sibir began their preseason at the Blinov Cup in Omsk. Vadim Epanchintsev’s team lost to Avangard (2–3 OT), Lokomotiv (1–4), Severstal (1–3), but defeated Neftekhimik in a shootout (2–1). Interestingly, six different players scored Sibir’s goals, with Alexey Yakovlev leading the team in points (1+2).
At the end of August, a shortened Barys roster took part in the Romazan Memorial in Magnitogorsk. The Astana team lost 1–2 to both Magnitka and Metallurg, but defeated Salavat Yulaev 4–3 in overtime. The team’s most productive player was Ansar Shaikhmenddenov (1+2).
In the upcoming matchups against Sibir, the Barys coaching staff will have a chance to test all the newcomers. Tamirlan Gaitamirov is still recovering from an injury sustained in the game against Salavat Yulaev.
The first game between Barys and Sibir starts at 5:00 p.m. Astana time.
Tickets at special prices are available at the Barys Arena box office and on our website hcbarys.kz/tickets.
The match will be broadcast live on Qazsport and streamed on our YouTube channel.
Before the game, at 4:00 p.m., an autograph session with Tamirlan Gaitamirov and Maksim Mukhametov will take place in the third-floor lobby.
