Barys will open their 19th season in the Kontinental Hockey League with a home clash against Sibir.
The Novosibirsk side have already played one game. On Saturday, Yaroslav Lyzenkov’s team let a win slip away in Kazan, losing to Ak Bars in a shootout, 3–4. Newcomers Stepan Nikulin and Evgeny Kuznetsov found the back of the net, while Taylor Beck scored the other goal. Goaltender Mikhail Berdin made 21 saves.
Following their appearances at tournaments in Ufa and St. Petersburg, Barys returned to Astana and prepared for the season opener with a full roster. Last week, the Astana side signed Kazakh defenceman Madi Dikhanbek to a full two-way contract. For the upcoming games, the coaching staff will be without forwards Arkady Shestakov and Asanali Sarkenov, who sustained injuries during the preseason.
The Barys – Sibir game will start at 19:00 Kazakhstan time.
The game will begin with a minute of silence and will be played in memory of the Lokomotiv team members who lost their lives in 2011.
Tickets are available at the Barys Arena box office and on our website: hcbarys.kz/tickets.
The game will be broadcast live on KHL and Qazsport.
