
Barys continues it's home series under the leadership of the new head coach Vyacheslav Butsayev. Today's opponent is Sochi.
The southernmost team in the League arrived in Kazakhstan's capital with three consecutive losses. In the previous round the Leopards lost to Sibir in Novosibirsk (2:4). The goals were scored by Andrey Nikonov and Timur Khafizov, who now has his fifth goal of the season and is the team's top scorer (5+1). Goalkeeper Sergey Ivanov saved only 17 out of 20 shots. Sergey Zubov noted that his players lacked the final pass and shot in the crucial stages of the game.
In seven games Sochi has earned four points. Daniil Seroukh, with six assists, is among the top playmakers in the championship. Injured players include defenseman Roman Manukhov and forward Amir Garaev.
After parting ways with David Nemirovsky, Barys lost at home to Moscow's Dynamo, with the Astana team once again unable to score more than one goal. The goal came from Alihan Omirbekov (his first goal of the season), who capitalized on a power play. Kirill Savitsky earned his first assist of the current championship. Johan Mattsson made 34 saves.
Barys has three points after eight matches. Michael McLeod (2+1) is the only player on the team with three points. The Canadian forward of Barys leads the League in the number (128) and percentage (68.1%) of faceoff wins.
