Preview of the Barys – Spartak Match

Barys’ next opponent will be Spartak. This 34th game of the season will mark the halfway point of the regular season for the team from Astana.

Spartak is one of the leaders in the Western Conference. In their last game, the Moscow team narrowly escaped defeat in Yekaterinburg. Avtomobilist managed to come back from a 1–4 deficit, but Spartak ultimately prevailed in the shootout. During the game, goals were scored by Alexander Pashin, Ivan Morozov, Daniil Orlov, and Mikhail Maltsev. The decisive shootout goal came from Pavel Poryadin. Goalie Dmitry Nikolaev made 17 saves. Spartak’s head coach, Alexei Zhamnov, commented that his team played well for 40 minutes, but the opponent stepped up their efforts, which caused some panic.

In 33 games, Spartak has earned 46 points and ranks among the top three most productive teams in the league with 107 goals scored. The team’s top scorer is Pavel Poryadin, with 15 goals and 14 assists. Defenseman Andrei Mironov remains on the injured list.

On Sunday, Barys suffered a 1–3 away loss to another Moscow club, CSKA. Anton Burdasov scored the team’s only goal, marking his fifth of the season. Despite the defeat, head coach Galym Mambetaliev noted that the team is showing progress and, most importantly, playing with determination.

In 33 games, Barys has accumulated 21 points. The team’s most productive player, Alihan Omirbekov, has 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists). Defenseman Viktor Antipin and forwards Damir Zhafyarov and Roman Starchenko remain on the injured list.
