In the final game of September Barys will host Torpedo on home ice. The team from Nizhny Novgorod will conclude their four-game away series with the match in Astana, a series that has already been quite successful for Igor Larionov's squad—Torpedo has secured three regulation-time victories. In their previous game the team crushed Amur in Khabarovsk (7:2). Denis Pochivalov scored a hat-trick, marking his first goals in the KHL. Mikhail Abramov, Sergei Goncharuk, Nikita Artamonov, and Bobby Lynch each added a goal. Ivan Bocharov made 41 saves. The Nizhny Novgorod coach noted that his team is gaining confidence with each game.
In 11 games Torpedo has earned 11 points. Nikita Artamonov (5+3) and Maxim Letunov (2+6) are the team's top scorers. On the injured list are defenseman Vyacheslav Voynov, as well as forwards Andrei Belevich and Igor Larionov.
On Saturday, Barys was unable to score against Vityaz (0:2). The Astana team had 32 shots on goal, but none of them were successful. Nikita Boyarkin made 28 saves, extending his shutout streak to over 131 minutes. Vyacheslav Butsaev mentioned that the team lacked aggression in the final stages of their attacks.
The Kazakh team still has five points in the standings. So far this season, Michael McLeod (2+1) and Alihan Omirbekov (1+2) have each contributed three points. Forwards Ruslan Ospanov and Connor Smith have been added to the injury list.
