On Friday, Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo completed a long marathon of home games with a 4-2 victory over Avtomobilist. The main hero of the game was 17-year-old Torpedo forward Nikita Artamonov, who scored a double and made two assists. Vasily Atanasov (12+13) and Maxim Letunov, one of the best scorers and snipers of the championship, scored once each. The home team's goaltender Ivan Kulbakov has 23 deflected shots. Igor Larionov said that his team played patiently in this match and took advantage of scoring chances at the right time.

After 23 games Torpedo has 30 points on its account - this is the fourth place in the West. Adam Huska is a top-five goaltender in goals against average (1.71) and save percentage (93.7). Maxim Letunov is among the KHL leaders in "plus-minus statistic" (+13). Forwards Sergey Goncharuk, Nikolay Kovalenko and Igor Larionov are on the injured list.

Barys lost in overtime last round to Dynamo Minsk (1:2). The teams exchanged effective attacks towards the end of the third period (Astana's Adil Beketayev scored), and in the extra five minutes the hosts capitulated after a mistake in their own zone. Edward Pasquale produced one of his best games of the season and reflected 44 shots. Galym Mambetaliyev liked the game despite the defeat. Barys' Acting Head Coach singled out the young players who set a good pace, but again complained about unrealized chances.

In 24 games, the Kazakhstani team has scored 21 points. Team's top scorer Riley Barber (10+13) is likely to miss the meeting due to injury.
