Before the Match: Dragons – Barys

Barys will continue its road trip in Shanghai, where, as part of the KHL World Games, they will face the Dragons in an relocated match.

In the first of two exhibition games, the Chinese team lost to Sibir 1:2. Parker Fu scored the only goal for the Dragons, while Dmitry Shikin made 23 saves.

In 62 games, the Dragons have accumulated 54 points and have already completed their playoff campaign. The team’s top scorer is Nick Merli (23+21). Injured players include goalies Andrey Kareev and Patrick Ribar, as well as defensemen Jeremy Grélo and Ben Harpur.

Barys, in the previous round, suffered a heavy defeat to SKA in Saint Petersburg (0:7), recording 18 shots on goal. Mikhail Kravets noted that his players executed the game plan properly only during the first six minutes, after which they gave the opponent too much freedom.

In 62 games, the Kazakh team has earned 47 points. Following the victory of the Novosibirsk squad in Shanghai, Barys has officially lost its playoff chances. Riley Walsh, with 40 points (14+26), remains the team’s leading scorer. Due to medical reasons, Ansar Shaikhmeddenov and Emil Galimov will miss the upcoming trip.
