Yaroslavl remain the only team in the league yet to suffer a defeat in the current regular season. In their previous game, Lokomotiv defeated Avangard 2:1 at home. The hosts' goals came from Alexander Radulov and Artem Kuzin, while Daniil Isayev made 24 saves and recorded an assist. Dmitry Kvartalnov noted that the game went well for his team, but the opposing goaltender prevented them from converting more of their chances.
In six games, the Railwaymen have collected 12 points and currently lead the Western Conference standings. Radulov (4+5), already mentioned above, is among the League's top three scorers. Forwards Maxim Beryozkin and Artur Kayumov are on the injured list.
On Friday, Barys failed to beat Metallurg's goaltender, suffering their first shutout loss of the season (0:3). The Astana side registered 26 shots on Alexander Smolin's goal, but none found the net. One of the championship's top scorers, Justin Bailey (5+4), saw his four-game scoring streak come to an end. Andrey Shutov made his first appearance of the season, replacing Hunter Shepard during the game. The Kazakhstan goaltender made 15 saves. Mikhail Kravets said that in key moments the players resorted to individual actions, which caused the team's structure to break down.
Barys have six points in the standings, which currently puts them fifth in the Eastern Conference. Arkady Shestakov has been removed from the injured list.
