Barys completes its away series in Balashikha. Today Astana team is going to play with Vityaz.
After changing the head trainer, the team from the Moscow region defeated Kunlun at home (2:1). Two points for Vityaz came from accurate shots by Vladimir Galuzin and Alexander Yaremchuk, and 25 saves by Maxim Dorozhko. Acting head coach Alexei Tertyshny noted that before the conceded goal his wards acted well, but in the third period they had to concentrate on defense.
Vityaz have earned seven points in 14 games. The team's top sharpshooter is Stanislav Yarovoy (3+4). As of the evening of October 5, forwards Yegor Zubov, Vitaly Popov, Scott Wilson and Vladislav Tsitsyura are on the injured list.
"Barys" has recently faced serious problems in pocketing a chance. Astana has been without a goal for a little over six periods. Last round Andrei Skabelka's wards conceded in Moscow to CSKA (0:4). Andrei Shutov deflected 29 shots in the net. Kazakhstan team coach said that the players showed dedication, but could not capitalize on their chances in offense.
After 14 meetings, Barys has ten points in its account. Riley Barber (6+12) remains the team's top sharpshooter, but the forward has been uncharacteristically ineffective over his last three games. Ansar Shaikhmeddenov is unlikely miss the meeting; he is recovering from an injury sustained in Minsk. Roman Starchenko joined the team, who yesterday had a training session in the general group.
Last season, both face-offs between Barys and Vityaz went to the Russian team (5-0 and 3-2).
The meeting starts on the ice of the ice arena "Balashikha" at 22:00 Astana time.
