Snezhnye Barsy Suffer Heavy Defeat to Omskie Yastreby

After completing their road series in Perm, Snezhnye Barsy began another home series this month. In their first game on home ice, the Astana side faced Omskie Yastreby of the Golden Division. Unfortunately, the hosts suffered an 3:8 defeat.

A difficult start to the first period saw Snezhnye Barsy fall well behind. Svyatoslav Karpov and Maxim Moiseyev took advantage of penalties to the Astana side and scored on Bogdan Yemelyanov. Roman Laman then beat the hosts’ defense for the third time.

The Barsy opened their scoring on the power play. Following a cross-ice pass from Armanzhan Kaliyev, Ilya Gromov found the net with a shot from the right faceoff circle. However, the hosts were unable to cut the deficit to one goal. Vladimir Mozzhukhin, battling actively in front of the net, scored Omskie Yastreby’s fourth goal past Yemelyanov. Kirill Mylnikov then replaced Bogdan in the Snezhnye Barsy goal. Four seconds before the end of the opening period, Tair Bigarinov converted a pass from Nikita Dubinkin to score the Astana side’s second goal.

The second period was considerably calmer than the first. Nevertheless, the Omsk side managed to extend their lead when Savely Korzik was first to the rebound in front of the hosts’ net.

The Yastreby continued to increase their advantage in the final period. Yaroslav Tkachev converted a breakaway to beat Kirill Mylnikov between the pads. Matvey Zheltonozhko then scored his first MHL goal, assisted by Mark Kirsanov and Timofey Katchenko.

Roman Laman scored Omskie Yastreby’s eighth and final goal of the game, completing his second of the night. Snezhnye Barsy managed to pull one goal back. Darkhan Khafarov, assisted by Yegor Kravchenko, scored his first MHL goal to set the final score at 3:8.

Ilgiz Nuriev’s team will play their next game on September 25 against Sibirskie Snaypery.
