The 2025/26 Kazakhstan Women’s Hockey Championship came to an end in Almaty.
The championship game featured two of the Qyzdar Ligasy’s top teams in recent years — Aisulu and Tomiris. With just 11 seconds remaining in the opening period, the Astana squad struck first as Yekaterina Prozorova found the back of the net. Defending champions Aisulu responded with goals from Larisa Sviridova and Yelizaveta Dyundina. Tomiris then regained control with two unanswered goals, once again led by Prozorova and Nina Baranova, who converted on the power play.
However, in the closing minutes, the Almaty team mounted a dramatic comeback while skating with the extra attacker. Maya Neugent scored with the goalie pulled to tie the game with only nine seconds left in regulation.
Most of the overtime period was controlled by the home side, but Aisulu failed to capitalize on several golden opportunities. Tomiris, meanwhile, made the most of one of their few chances, as Azaliya Avzalova scored the championship-winning goal to seal both the game and the title.
Tomiris has now captured the Kazakhstan championship for the second time in club history, while Aisulu finished as the Qyzdar Ligasy silver medalist.
