The Barys hockey club announces the signing of a contract with Vladimir Nikitin. The two-way agreement is for one season, until May 31, 2025.

Nikitin is a graduate of the «Barys» youth sports school. In the 2022-23 season, the Kazakh goaltender made his debut with the «Snezhnye Barsy» in the adult championship of Kazakhstan and later helped the «Barys» youth team become the champions of the Jastar Hokei Ligasy. Additionally, in 2023, he was drafted by the NHL club «Ottawa Senators».

Last season, Vladimir played for the «Chilliwack Chiefs», a team in the British Columbia Hockey League. Notably, in one of the games, Nikitin scored a goal.

In December 2023, the goaltender became one of the heroes of the World Junior Championship in the first division. The Kazakhstan national team returned to the elite following that tournament, and Nikitin was named the best goaltender.

Oleg Bolyakin, General Manager of Barys

- Nikitin is one of the most promising Kazakh goaltenders, so it was important for us to bring him back into our system. He gained valuable experience in North America, and now it's time to take the next step. We expect that Vladimir's talent and work ethic will help him compete for a spot on the main team.
