YHL alumni - Mikhail Tarassov

Barys Press Service continues a series of publications about hockey players of the Club system who have officially completed their career in youth hockey. Another graduate of the Youth Hockey League last season was Mikhail Tarassov, the defender.

The defender played his first YHL match on September 5, 2018. That day, Snow Leopards defeated Sputnik on the road (3:1), and Tarassov himself spent almost 10 minutes on the ice. In his debut season, Mikhail played 52 games, where he assisted partners 4 times, made 30 checks and blocked 49 shots.

2019-20 season turned out to be more productive for the player. For 50 games, he scored 10 (2+8) points. The opening goal came in a home game against Ladiya, where Barys beat their opponents 7:3.

In total, during two seasons in YHL, Tarassov played 102 games, scoring 14 (2+12) points. It is noteworthy that in some matches, he played as a central forwarder, so the defender's statistics show an unusual number of face-offs for his position - 169. 59 of them were of Mikhail.

Now the hockey player will continue to play in the Barys system. Last week, Tarassov signed a contract with Nomad.

Mikhail Tarassov on his playing in YHL:

- Playing in YHL left a very pleasant impression. I had two productive and memorable seasons here. This is a kind of push, an excellent buildup for adult hockey. YHL is a strong league for young hockey players, with good speed and action at each step. Matches are always spectacular and exciting. I will always remember my first match, it was exciting, but at the same time very interesting. We were playing with Sputnik at the time, and it was a difficult match. But we played it well and won. Thanks to the coaches who helped me to become stronger and more resilient every day.
