MHL leavers: Sayan Daniyar

The Press Service of Barys continues a series of publications about hockey players from the club system who have officially completed their path in youth hockey. Another graduate of the Youth Hockey League in the season ended was forward Sayan Daniyar.

The center-forward played his first match with Snejnye Barsy on September 4, 2017. It should be noted that by this time the player already had two years of experience in the championship of Kazakhstan, as well as in the international arena as a member of the junior and youth national teams of the country.

In that memorable meeting, the team from the capital of Kazakhstan beat Stalnye lisy with a score of 2: 0 in the away match, and Daniyar himself recorded his first productive point in the MHL, making a pass during the second goal. Overall, in his debut season, the forward played 55 games and scored 26 (11+15) points.

The next season was a real breakthrough for Sayan. In the regular season of the MHL, he got 64 (19+45) points in 60 games (the second result in the team) and helped his team reach the playoffs for the first time in three years. In the back-to-back matches, Snejnye Barsy could not overcome the first round, but Daniyar scored three goals in four games.

The hockey player proved himself at the world youth championship in the elite division in Canada. At this tournament, Sayan twice upset his opponents and made a serious contribution to the preservation of our team's registration in the elite.

Also in January 2019, he took part in the 10th anniversary of the MHL Challenge Cup, held in Nizhnekamsk. And in this match, he served as the captain of the Eastern conference team.

The striker spent most of last season at the location of Nomad, which plays in the VHL, and even played 2 matches in the KHL. Sayan was involved 5 times to the team of Snejnye Barsy, and in those games he got  6 (2+4) points.

In General, during his career in the MHL, the athlete held 124 meetings, recorded 99 (35+64) points and won 1163 throw-ins. At the end of may, Sayan accepted Barys' qualification offer and signed a contract for two seasons.

- MHL is a great school for all young guys. Now many graduates of this League play at the highest level. Matches in Snejnye Barsy allowed me to get used to different speeds, to a different perception of the game. We realized that we can also show good results.

The most interesting confrontation in the MHL for me is the games with Altai. This is Kazakhstan Derby, they often turned out to be productive and unpredictable. Of course, I remember my performance at the Challenge Cup, it was a great experience. I would like to highlight the playoff matches separately. There is a completely different intensity here. And for many teams, even getting into the Cup eight is an achievement. In General, these three seasons in the MHL left only positive emotions.
