In the decisive game of the IIHF U18 World Championship Division IA Group A, Kazakhstan defeated Slovenia in a shootout. Yegor Kim and Yegor Kravchenko scored in regulation, while Tair Bigarinov netted the game-winning shootout goal.
As a result, Maxim Khudyakov’s team finished the tournament with 10 points and claimed the silver medals. Switzerland took first place and earned promotion to the elite division, while Poland was relegated to Division IB.
Forward Ilya Gromov was named Kazakhstan’s best player of the tournament. Yegor Kravchenko finished as the tournament’s second-leading scorer with 8 points (4 goals, 4 assists). Svyatoslav Evplov was recognized by the organizers as the tournament’s best defenseman.
