In their first home game of 2026, Barys hosted Neftekhimik. The Astana coaching staff made just one change to the lineup, with Adam Schil starting the game from the opening faceoff.
The hosts got off to a solid start but once again failed to convert several scoring chances. Nizhnekamsk, meanwhile, capitalized on virtually their first opportunity, as German Tochilkin scored from close range. The pattern of play did not change in the second period: Barys controlled the puck for long stretches and generated pressure, but were unable to beat Yaroslav Ozolin.
As a result, despite registering 36 shots on goal, the Astana side finished the game without scoring.
On January 17, Mikhail Kravets’ team will face CSKA at home in Astana.
