Barys Snaps Losing Streak

In the third game of their home stand, Barys hosted one of the Eastern Conference leaders — Avangard.

The Astana side started confidently, producing two early goals. Riley Walsh opened the scoring on the power play, and soon after, Mason Morelli showed great work in front of the net, redirecting a pass from Samat Daniyar to double the lead. The visitors responded with a power-play goal of their own, scored by Nikolai Prokhorkin.

Nearly half of the second period, Barys played shorthanded, and the Omsk team managed to capitalize once — Damir Sharipzyanov evened the score.

Early in the final frame, Michael Vecchione blasted a one-timer from the left circle during a 5-on-3 power play. Adil Beketayev then extended the lead with his first goal of the season, and Vsevolod Logvin took advantage of a defensive mistake by Andrei Mishurov to make it 5–2. Dinmukhamed Kairzhan sealed the win by sending the puck into Avangard’s empty net.

On October 18, Mikhail Kravets’ team will face Ak Bars on home ice.
