Barys Suffer Defeat to Neftekhimik in High-Scoring Game

Barys opened its short home series with a matchup against Neftekhimik. Adil Beketayev replaced the injured Madi Dikhanbek in the third defensive pairing. Asanali Sarkenov made his KHL debut, while Andrei Shutov started in goal for the third consecutive game.

The visitors opened the scoring in the seventh minute, when Damir Zhafyarov found the net with a shot from the left faceoff circle. The second period proved decisive, as Neftekhimik scored four goals. The visitors were successful through Grigory Seleznyov, German Tochilkin (following his goal, Hunter Shepard replaced Shutov in the Barys net), Alexander Petunin and Sevastian Sokolov.

In the final period, the Kazakh side launched a comeback and narrowed the gap through Garrett Pilon and Semyon Simonov. However, Artur Tyanulin stopped the hosts' surge. Barys had the final say in the game, as Alikhan Omirbekov scored after a battle in front of the net. Asanali Sarkenov and Damir Britikov recorded their first points in the League.

On September 27, Mikhail Kravets' side will host SKA in Astana.
