Barys Falls to Salavat Yulaev in a High-Scoring Game

Barys opened their next road trip in Ufa. The Astana lineup underwent significant changes. The coaching staff added Roman Starchenko, who replaced Kirill Panyukov on the fourth line, as well as Artyom Korolyov, who came in for the ill Jake Massie. From the opening faceoff, Andrey Shutov started in goal, while Nikita Boyarkin was listed as the backup for the first time this season.

The opening period belonged to the visitors. First, Max Willman finished off a beautifully executed rush attack. Shortly afterward, Michael Vecchione was quickest on the rebound, scoring after his own shot. Korolyov recorded his first assist of the season on the play. Salavat Yulaev responded on the power play — Devin Brosseau broke through Shutov’s netminding.

In the second period, both teams scored exclusively on the power play. Riley Walsh hit the target for Barys, but Salavat answered with goals from Sheldon Rempal and Jack Rodewald.

The final period was controlled by Ufa, who produced four scoring attacks. For Barys, Max Willman completed a two-goal performance.

On November 29, Mikhail Kravets’ team will play Metallurg in Magnitogorsk.
