The hosts quickly opened the scoring when Igor Martynov converted a pass from Scott Wilson. However, midway through the first period, Barys equalized. Beibarys Orazov forced a turnover in the offensive zone, and Riley Walsh sent the puck toward the net, where Vsevolod Logvin got a stick on it. The visitors then earned several consecutive power plays, but were unable to capitalize. In the third period, Alikhan Asetov gave the Astana side the lead.
Late in regulation, Salavat Yulaev pulled its goaltender and managed to tie the game. The outcome was decided in a shootout, where the hosts came out on top. The Kazakhstani team concludes its road trip with three points.
